This was another excellent Thanksgiving Day. Of course I am pretty proud for making two separte Apple Pies for the first time the night before. One which we brought to Marjel's folks house the other which stayed in Santa Cruz. For this day, there were quite a few people that Michaela and I don't get to see too often. The grand list of attendees were Todd, Marjel, Jackson, Steve and Elizabeth(Marjel's mom and dad) Boo(Marjel's Sister, and her two kids(Kian and Cameron) Mom, Peter, Sister Laura and Grandpa. Payman would have been there too but he was in Dubai meeting with his mom for Thanksgiving dinner Dubai style.
First off, we got a grand tour of the outdoors by Steve, he showed us the grilled turkey that was in the middle of a roasting and looked really tasty with three pieces of bacon on top. Also, he showed us their garden which is pretty spectacular indeed. Currently they are growing a whole bunch of peppers, along with some eggplants and tomato. There were some beds with some herbs and all kinds of roses, some in bloom.
The dinner itself was great. But first, we had a few hours of warm up appetizers. My favorites from this were the artichoke dip, and the cheese/cracker/salami/prosciutto combinations. I like loading up the crackers and bread to the point where the look like full size sandwiches. But instead of eating just one sandwich, eating about ten of them. Since the doctors are not saying its a good idea for me to be taking part in the alcoholic beverages these days, I left that to Michaela and the rest. There were all kinds of good wines to go around that most everyone else took part in.
The meal itself was great too. Turkey from the BBQ is really tasty. That was a first for me. And let me add, this was Michaela's first Thanksgiving meal. She was really impressed. Hard to say my favorite part of the actual dinner, all was darn tasty. The turkey and gravy was great, so I will leave it to that.
Now for dessert. That was supper tasty too. I had a piece of pumpkin pie, and some chocolate tart type cake. All was GREAT.
Thanks to Marjel's folks for putting on such a great Thanksgiving Day meal. Hope to do it again next year.
